Polwerk Kft. was established in 1995 as a Polish–Hungarian joint venture. The company, now 100% Hungarian-owned, was originally founded to produce Krówka caramels, which
at the time were only available through imports.
Caramel production remains the backbone of our operations, but over the years we have introduced new production technologies and diversified our product range. Today, we manufacture a wide selection of milk and butter caramels, utilizing globally unique technological innovations that give our confectionery a distinctive texture and redefine the perception of traditional caramel. Building on our growing expertise, we have developed more complex confectionery products as well. Our flagship item is the Puszilva bonbon — a caramel prune delight — which has inspired similar creations featuring cherry and orange centers. Our product range also includes caramel bars, molded chocolate products, dextrose pastilles, as well as chocolate- and sugar-coated dragées.
Using our growing knowledge, we have also developed more complex products. The flagship product is our caramel prune bonbon called “Puszilva” fantasy. The expansion of the bonbon family was marked by the creation of sweets made with similar cherry and orange bodies.
Our product range also includes the production of caramel parlor candies, molded chocolate products, grape sugar pastilles, chocolate and sugar-coated dragees.
At Polwerk, we believe that sweets — while not a health food — can be part of a balanced diet. Within this category, we strive to achieve acceptable glycemic values by incorporating milk, fruit juice, seeds, and real chocolate into our recipes while reducing the proportion of sugar and its derivatives.
We use Fair Trade and UTZ-certified ingredients wherever possible and actively work to reduce our ecological footprint through conscious raw material selection.
We place great emphasis on safe food production, guaranteed by our strict internal standards and audited IFS certification. Our focus is on natural ingredients — free from flavor enhancers, preservatives, and artificial colors.
The results of this approach are reflected in our company’s steady growth. Our turnover has doubled year after year, and we reinvest a significant portion of our profits into improving production efficiency and working conditions for our employees. Thanks to our expanding workforce and continuous innovation, Polwerk Kft. is now recognized as a medium-sized leader in the Hungarian confectionery industry.
